Providing students with a personalized form covering the total cost of an education program.
SMU provides students with the U.S. Department of Education’s College Financing Plan (CFP). This personalized form shows students their total educational costs and financial aid packages, including Federal military and veteran education benefits. Students can access their personalized CFP at any time in their my.SMU Student Dashboard on the “View Financial Aid” page under the Financials menu.
The Financials menu also offers a page on loans which details all existing loans a student has taken out while enrolled at SMU and a Repayment Calculator tool for students to estimate their repayment options once they have graduated.
Providing educational plans for all military and Veteran education beneficiaries.
Undergraduate students can access their degree plan and their degree progress report through their my.SMU Student Dashboard. Instructions on how to find these pages can be found on OIT’s website. Graduate students are provided a degree plan by their academic school. A list of all degree plans can be found in our catalog.

SMU accommodates service members and reservists who are unable to attend class or must suspend their studies due to service requirements. Students whose military service obligations require a length of absence longer than two semesters and wish to return to SMU, may apply for re-admission based on the policies set forth in the catalog.

Southern Methodist University bans all inducements (including any gratuity, favor, discount, entertainment, hospitality, loan, transportation, lodging, meals, or other items having monetary value of more than a de minimis amount) to any individual or entity (other than salaries paid to employees or fees paid to contractors in conformity with all applicable laws) for the purpose of securing enrollment of service members or obtaining access to tuition assistance funds as part of efforts to eliminate aggressive marketing aimed at service members.
Southern Methodist University does not participate in high-pressure recruitment-marketing tactics. Southern Methodist University will not provide any commission, bonus, or other incentive payment based directly or indirectly on securing enrollment of federal financial aid (including TA funds) to any persons or entities engaged in any student recruiting, admission activities, or making decisions regarding the award of student financial assistance.
