Popular futurist, physicist Michio Kaku at upcoming SMU Tate Lecture

Famed futurist, theoretical physicist and New York Times best-selling author Michio Kaku will be the featured speaker at the Oncor Lecture of the Willis M. Tate Lecture Series at SMU Tuesday, June 16.

DALLAS (SMU) – Famed futurist, theoretical physicist and New York Times best-selling author Michio Kaku will be the featured speaker at the Oncor Lecture of the Willis M. Tate Lecture Series at SMU Tuesday, June 16. The lecture was rescheduled after Kaku's original March 24 date was cancelled due to illness.

MICHIO KAKUThe Oncor Tate Lecture will begin at 8 p.m. at SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium, 6405 Boaz Lane. The event is sold-out. Tickets and parking passes for the previously scheduled lecture will be honored.

Michio Kaku is one of the most highly recognized scientists in the world today. He is the author of several international and New York Times best-selling books. Amazon chose Kaku’s Physics of the Future as one of the Top 100 Books of 2011. His other books include Physics of the Impossible, Hyperspace, Visions: How Science Will Revolutionize the 21st Century and The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance, and Empower the Mind. His Ph.D.-level textbooks are required reading at many of the world’s leading physics laboratories.

Kaku has appeared in numerous science television specials and was featured in the documentary film “Me and Isaac Newton.” He hosted a series for BBC-TV and BBC World on the nature of time and a BBC-TV documentary about the future of science. He hosts weekly radio programs, including “Science Fantastic,” a live talk show that airs across the United States and is podcast around the world. Kaku holds the Henry Semat Chair in Theoretical Physics at the City University of New York, where he has been a professor for 30 years. Kaku graduated from Harvard University (summa cum laude and first in his physics class) and earned his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California at Berkeley.
