Ex-mayor, law firm co-founder, energy exec among this year's class of Outstanding Directors

Mike Boone, chair of the SMU Board of Trustees, is among this year's recipients of the Dallas Business Journal's "Outstanding Directors" Award.

A former Dallas mayor, a co-founder of a high-profile law firm who leads a college's board of trustees and a veteran energy executive who serves on multiple boards are among this year's honorees in the Dallas Business Journal's third annual Outstanding Directors Awards.

This prestigious program recognizes directors, boards and committees that demonstrate leadership and business savvy in guiding companies to success.

The 2015 honorees were selected after much deliberation by a team of independent judges, industry insiders and authorities on board governance. . . New this year is the Corporate Governance Advocate category, which recognizes a director who has advanced corporate governance from a business perspective, as well as the Public Sector Board category, which recognizes a board that has provided exceptional service to a company serving the public sector.

Presented in partnership with the National Association of Corporate Directors, North Texas Chapter and sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Ernst & Young, the directors will be honored in a special publication in the Dallas Business Journal's Sept. 18 weekly edition. They'll also be feted at a celebratory awards dinner Sept. 17 at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas.
