SMU to simulcast Spring 2014 TED Conference March 17-21

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU’s Lyle School of Engineering will host simulcasts of the presentations from the Spring 2014 TED conference in Vancouver, B.C., March 17-21.

The local viewings, which are free and open to the public, will be in the Huitt-Zollars Room (Room 115) of the Embrey Engineering Building.

2014 marks TED’s 30th anniversary, and the theme for TED2014 is “The Next Chapter.” TED will be seeking to understand what are truly the most significant developments of the last 30 years and applying that knowledge to understand what’s ahead.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.

Each fall, SMU hosts TEDxSMU and TEDxKIDS

Bringing together ideas and interesting people from around the world and around the corner, TEDxSMU and TEDxKids @SMU are single-day conferences in Dallas, TX.

TEDxKids @SMU (the first TEDx event designed for students) hosts 450 middle school students for a free four-hour conference in exchange for completing four hours of community service. TEDxKids @SMU is scheduled for the fall of 2014 at City Performance Hall.
