SMU Athletics honors student, faculty, staff achievements at SMU-Central Florida game

SMU Athletics recognized faculty members, staff and student athletes at Saturday's game.

Peruna at SMUDALLAS (SMU) – SMU Athletics recognized faculty members, staff and student athletes for their achievements at the SMU-Central Florida men’s basketball game Saturday, March 1.

Professors chosen as favorites by the team joined the players in the starting lineup, and other faculty and staff members honored by the Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center were recognized during time-outs.

In 2014, as part of its Second Century Celebration, SMU is celebrating the Year of the Faculty, marking the extraordinary contributions of the University’s esteemed faculty as researchers, teachers and University citizens.

Student athletes also were honored for their academic achievements, including 10 members of the Mustang Scholars – student athletes with GPAs of 3.75 or higher. More than 200 student athletes who are members of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, those with fall 2013 GPAs of 3.0 or higher, also were honored.
