Editorial: Summer and reading go together

Summer is renowned for its lazy, hazy days, the kind that open up one of those rare breaks for reading just for pure pleasure. Perhaps reading is more of a summer ritual because we all are a tad less stressed out during June, July and August. The trip to the beach or a mountain retreat is not complete without a juicy book to dig into. And summer reading is not just for adults — schools want young ones to keep their minds active until classes resume.

Reading is as much a part of summer as are the “boys of summer” and perspiring glasses of lemonade on the front porch. So what are North Texans reading this July Fourth? The answers we found are as diverse as the people we surveyed....
