SMU Sets 2012 Football Schedule
SMU announces its 2012 football schedule, with the first game of the season against Baylor University in Waco.
DALLAS (SMU) — On the heels of its third straight bowl appearance, SMU is announcing its 2012 football schedule.
The slate is highlighted by seven games on the SMU campus including matchups against Texas A&M and TCU, C-USA West rivals Houston and Tulsa and 2011 C-USA Champion Southern Miss.
SMU opens the 2012 season with a road trip to Waco to face Baylor on Sept. 1 before returning to Dallas for its home opener on Sept. 8 versus Stephen F. Austin.
Former Southwest Conference rival Texas A&M visits Ford Stadium on Sept. 15 and the Battle For The Iron Skillet will take place at Ford two weeks later as TCU travels to Dallas for a Sept. 29 meeting.
The Mustangs will open C-USA play at UTEP on Oct. 6 before finally leaving the Lone Star State on Oct. 13 when they head to New Orleans to battle Tulane.
Houston and Memphis come to the Hilltop on back-to-back weekends on Oct. 20 and Oct 27, respectively, before SMU heads to Florida to face UCF on Nov. 3.
Defending C-USA Champion Southern Miss travels to Ford Stadium for a Nov. 10 meeting and SMU then heads to Space City to tackle Rice on Nov. 17. Senior Day is set for Nov. 24 when Tulsa comes to SMU for the regular-season finale.
The C-USA Championship game will then be played on Dec. 1.
Kickoff times will be set at a later date and game dates are subject to change for television.
