Exhibit a tribute to former SMU art professor

In tribute to the late Bill Komodore, a renowned Dallas artist and former art professor at SMU, an exhibition of some of his work is on display at The Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas through November 30, 2012.

Komodore’s work has been a part of the museum since its reopening in 2009. “A Man of Spirit,” consisting of large canvas oil paintings, focuses on the his biblically related art with titles such as “Many Mansions,” “The Coming of the Donkey King,” “New Jerusalem,” and “The Baal Shem Tov.”

Born in Greece in 1932, Komodore studied art in New York under celebrated icons such as Hans Hoffman, David Smith and Mark Rothko. Gaining popularity in the 1960s with his Op Art, he continued to change and adapt his style and his themes throughout his entire career. A graduate of Tulane University, he was an art professor at SMU from 1989-2011. He died August 2, 2012.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
