Since 1996 the Clements Center has been supporting the production of knowledge about the Southwest and borderlands.

► 58 Clements Center Fellows:

  • 27 books published as a result of the fellowship with “Published in Cooperation with the William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies, Southern Methodist University” on the title page, back cover and appropriate advertising.
        
  • 10 books under contract with publishers including Duke, North Carolina, Oxford and Yale.
        
  • 16 university presses represented including Arizona, Duke, Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, New York, SAR (School of American Research), SMU, Texas, Trinity, Virginia, Oxford, Washington, and Yale, and one commercial press: Island Press (Shearwater Books).

► 50 recipients of Clements Center – DeGolyer Library Research Travel Grants for Visiting Scholars who have or will cite the Clements Center and DeGolyer Library in their publications.

► 96 visiting lecturers, scholars or experts in their field related to the Southwest have come to campus to give public lectures either at monthly Brown Bags or at special public events.

► 12 SMU Community Friends who are scholars on campus with expertise in the Southwest.

► 28 North Texas Area Friends who are scholars or experts off campus with expertise in the Southwest.

► 9 college and university members in the Consortium of Southwest Studies Centers organized by the Clements Center.

► 1210+ people on our mailing list who receive twice yearly Clements Center newsletters.

► 1200+ North Texas area email addresses sent information about and invitations to Clements Center events.
