The Mustangs enter the season following their most successful campaign in more than a decade. SMU recorded its first 20-win season and first post-season bid since 1999-2000, finishing 20-15 and advancing to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) semifinal.
This is the men's 95th season of basketball. SMU is 55-40 in season openers and 38-16 when opening the season at home. SMU and McMurry are meeting for the fifth time with SMU owning a 4-0 all-time mark against the War Hawks.

Tip-off time for the women's opener is at noon Saturday against Alcorn State University.
Fans attending the SMU football game against Navy - kickoff time at 2:30 p.m. Saturday - will be admitted to the women's game with their football ticket.
The women's team has two home dates on TV this season. SMU will host Southern Miss on Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. on CBS SN. The contest against Rice on Feb. 19 will air on FSN at noon. Both games will be played in Moody Coliseum.
