SMU Alumnus Garrett Haake to cover 2012 elections for NBC News

Garrett Haake, who graduated from SMU in 2007 with a degree in journalism, will be one of eight embedded reporters for NBC News covering the 2012 elections, according to a memo from NBC News president Steve Capus.

Haake will be covering Mitt Romney's campaign.

The embedded reporters will contribute to all of NBC’s news platforms, including on MSNBC and on the web. They were selected by a team that included NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd, the memo said.

Haake, who was a President's Scholar while at SMU, interned at NBC Nightly News in 2006 while still a student, and was then hired by the network after graduating from SMU's Meadows School of the Arts. He is currently an associate producer for NBC Nightly News.
