SMU's O’Neil Center Presents Journalist and Author John Stossel

The well-informed and entertaining journalist John Stossel will be the featured speaker Wednesday, March 30, at a luncheon sponsored by the William J. O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom in SMU's Cox School of Business.

Proceeds from the event, set for 11:30 a.m. in the James M. Collins Center on the SMU campus, will support the O’Neil Center’s student and external relations programs. The event is sold out.

Stossel, whose journalism career began in the 1970s, is a consumer reporter, investigative journalist, author and libertarian columnist. In October 2009 Stossel left ABC News, where he was co-host of "20/20," to join the FOX Business and FOX News channels. He hosts the weekly news show, "Stossel," on Fox Business and provides analysis for various Fox News shows, including weekly appearances on "The O'Reilly Factor." He also writes the Fox News Blog, "John Stossel's Take."

He has received numerous honors and awards, including 19 Emmys, a George Polk Award for Outstanding Local Reporting, a Peabody Award and has been honored five times for excellence in consumer reporting by the National Press Club. He is the author of the autobiography Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists and Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media (2005) and Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel — Why Everything You Know Is Wrong (2007).
