Matthew Wilson, associate professor of political science, Southern Methodist University:

If science and religion fail to engage one another, both are impoverished.

I believe, as many have said, that "all truth is God's truth" – in other words, that everything we discover through science about the nature of humanity, society and the universe helps us better to understand the mystery of God.

At the same time, science should be open to engagement with religion by acknowledging its own limitations.

The scientific method is well suited to answering questions of "what?" and "how?", but not of "why?" and "so what?"
