Bright takes from Cannes to Palm Beach
Ryan Blitzer ’16, ’17 chose SMU because he wanted hands-on opportunities to start making films immediately and build a portfolio that would appeal to both film and advertising professionals. In the second semester of his freshman year he was on set six weekends in a row on six different films. Blitzer was still a freshman when he made his first film, Reveal, and it became an of cial pick of the 2015 Palm Beach International Film Festival. Blitzer also secured an internship at the 2014 Cannes International Film Festival. At Cannes, he learned about the business side of film, analyzed scripts, met with international distributors and made industry connections with professionals from around the world. Outside of film, the Hunt Leadership Scholar serves as creative director of an SMU student-run communications consulting firm.
